Streamlining Manual Processes in Data Protection Austin, TX — January 10, 2022 — Clarity Ventures announced today that it has completed the first stage of a project with a vital data security organization that helps protect the nation’s sensitive data. Clarity is proud to have engaged with CMMC-AB (Cyber Security Model Certification - Accreditation Body) on their most recent project. “The Defense Industrial Base, known as DIB, is made up of private sector companies and defense companies that are not necessarily legally required to complete certain security stances to the same extent that direct government entities have to,” said Ron Halversen, VP sales and marketing at Clarity Ventures. “The CMMC model is meant to enforce a stance where, in order to secure contracts, these DIB organizations have to comply with a certain standard so that sensitive government information remains safe.” The US government tasked CMMC-AB to provide the infrastructure and capability to vet and verify contractors to ensure they keep data safe and that they're passing tests on a periodic basis. CMMC-AB includes verification of background checks, training, and security for anyone involved with DIB contracts. This is a very detailed process, including an audit of key members of contractors who are representing that organization. These representatives must legally attest that their organization meets CMMC requirements and detail the steps they take to remain compliant. Clarity’s role in the project streamlined the process so that contractors could self-serve and reduce the burden on CMMC itself. CMMC needed a platform that would enable this process to run seamlessly while integrating with a CRM, an LMS (learning management system), and a set of external APIs for background checks. This means that fewer manual auditing steps by the CMMC-AB are necessary.
